All the family get togethers, cook outs, and vacations this time of year are truly exciting. There’s so much joy to be found in times with family and friends. Even so, sometimes it’s easy to let that excitement get the best of you. Back to back get togethers often lead to overindulging in our favorite treats or missing workouts due to busy schedules.

These indulgences can be exciting at first, but once we return to our regular routine the reality begins to sink in. We feel a little slower, less healthy and more lethargic than we used to. The struggle we find in completing our daily routine is like a slap in the face after so much time off. It’s easy to worry that all the hard work we’d been doing is suddenly gone after just a few days (or weeks) off.

Life seems to go in cycles. We have those weeks or months when we feel so on top of it – checking things off our to do list, fitting it all of our runs, drinking water and eating healthy. These weeks are usually followed by some periods of laziness, relaxation, and a bit less willpower.

As the cycle continues, I repeatedly find myself returning home from a vacation or trip wishing that I could reset my body. While the time away was fun, I’m always eager to get back to healthy habits and wanting to feel energized and motivated again.

In preparation for the summer craziness, I created a 1 week fitness reset challenge to complete after vacations or lazy weeks.

This fitness challenge is my attempt to reset the entire body – mentally and physically. It does not involve a detox diet or and intense exercise, but it provides guidelines to follow as you transition back to productivity after some time away.
