Refresh and Recharge

Motivational Quotes

Well good morning and happy Saturday! The best day of the week, hands down. We arrived back from our trip to North Carolina last night around 2:00 am. We started the drive back at 10 am and thought we would drive until we got tired and then get a hotel for the night, but as we were driving we decided we wanted to power through to make it home. Last night I definitely second guessed that decision as I was blasting cold air and music around 11 pm to try and stay awake in the car, but this morning I’m sure glad we did!

Vacations are so wonderful, but it sure is nice to be back home in our own house and bed. We now have a full weekend to get back in the swing of things and get ourselves mentally ready to head back to work. Monday will be tough!

We stayed in Corolla, North Carolina right on the beach with 9 friends! It was perfect. While we were there we were able to see the Wright Brothers Memorial, climb a lighthouse, visit the North Carolina Aquarium, and of course have plenty of good eats.

I sure am grateful for this week off to rest and relax. I can say that I am in a much better state of mind now than I was a week ago, and am feeling ready to tackle the last 10 weeks of the school year. However, I know it’s going to take about a week for me to get back into my normal routines and started to feel in sync again. I know a vacation was successful when I come back feeling like I ate plenty of good food and didn’t work it all off 😉 Here’s to resetting and starting fresh this week!

Spring Break (49)

I was able to squeeze in a 3 mile run yesterday before we hit the road. It was still pretty warm outside (at least compared to Michigan – it was in the 50s) but there were some pretty substantial winds! My weather app clocked them in at 24 mph when I was heading out the door. The wind provided some challenges but kept me cool so overall I have no complaints! I sure will miss this beautiful trail.

After my run we hit the road. My goal was to get a picture of the sign for each state that we drove through… I would consider myself about 70% successful on this – I got a picture of each sign but some of the pictures are awful. I tried on the drive down and back home to get a picture of Indiana and Ohio and these are the best I got! They are both ridiculously blurry and pretty much unrecognizable. I also missed the Michigan sign when we were driving back! Oops.

It is sad to say goodbye to our beach house and friends that we spent the week with, but I am so glad we got the opportunity to go. I am one of those people that gets home from a vacation and reminisces for a week straight about all the good times we had, wishing I was back on the trip. My goal this week is to be grateful for the experience, happy for the memories, and use the refreshed feeling I have now to fuel a positive start to the last stretch of the school year.

Spring Break (19)

I’m heading out for a run to start the weekend off. I’m planning on running this afternoon when it is a smidge warmer, but there are blue skies outside so I can’t complain. Have a wonderful weekend, I hope you get time to relax, get some good eats and recharge as well!
