July Favorites!

How is it August already?! I am a bit behind on these posts because I spent the whole weekend thinking that Tuesday was the last day of July, when in reality it’s actually the first day of August. Oops!

This past month flew by and I really can’t believe the summer is over halfway through. August is the month that I have been waiting for throughout this past year though, so I am greeting it with open arms and ridiculous amounts of excitement.

While I was secretly wishing each day of July away these past few weeks, it was a pretty great month. It was full of the stress that comes with wedding planning, but also the excitement. Not just excitement for a wedding, but excitement for wedding planning and a newly clean slate and open canvas for the future.

Here are some of my favorites from July 🙂

Marathon training kicked off in the end of June, but truly started to feel real in July. I ran my first double digit run of the season, and continued pushing through each week. It’s hard to believe that I am on week 7 of this marathon training cycle already!

My fiance and I spent a full week up north in Cheboygan, Michigan with my parents and boy was it relaxing. That week was filled with no stress and all fun! It came at a time when I thought I wouldn’t be able to take a break, but ended up giving me exactly the break that I didn’t know I wanted. We ran, swam, kayaked, biked, explored and relaxed for the entire week. It really was pure bliss.

Following this vacation, we celebrated our upcoming wedding with our Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties. One of my favorite things about wedding planning has been that it gives us a reason to see so many people we love!

I wrote my 100th blog post! This was an exciting monument for me. I didn’t really know what to expect when I started blogging; whether or not I would stick with it or if it would become something of the past. I am so happy to have stuck with it through these past few months and excited to keep on writing!

While running has been fairly successful this month, I’ve struggled with balancing the increase in mileage and workout length these past few weeks. I know that the struggle is worth it though, and have to remind myself that I have been through this before and it somehow always gets done.

I finally built up the courage to do something I had been thinking about and wanting to do for the past two years. I had been indecisive for so long, but in my heart knew what was best and finally found myself brave enough to complete it. I will share more on this in a few weeks!

Marathon training really challenges you and rewards you, and this training cycle has been no different. I am finally entering into the mindset of focusing on the miles that I am in, rather than overwhelming myself with the future and it has made a world of a difference.

I am wrapping up this month with my longest run of the training cycle so far, 14 miles. And it was a great one! Fingers crossed that this continues as the miles increase.

We finished out the month yesterday with a full day of planning last minute details for our wedding on Saturday, and I finally feel like I am caught up from the chaos of having band camp last week. Today we continue to plan and look forward to all the joy that is to come this weekend!

Goodbye July, you were good to us – but I have a feeling August is going to be better!

I hope you are all just as excited as I am to see the start of a new month. Cheers to August!

I’m glad the summer is going away only so it will be easier to do long runs.

Looks like you had a productive July.

That’s one way to think about it. I’m a bit the opposite.

  2. I’m glad I’m not alone in being surprised today is August 1st haha. I checked my desktop calendar at work and was confused why today didn’t have a date on it. What marathon are you running?
