Well hello, last week of September! It sure doesn’t feel like fall is upon us because we’ve been having some ridiculous summer weather. It’s been a while since I’ve shared some of the randomness from around here so I’ve got some tangents for you.
Like I said, the weather has been absolutely RIDICULOUS. I was so excited for fall but I guess Michigan had other plans in mind! Luckily it looks like a cold front will be coming tomorrow and we will get some relief from these crazy temperatures. I sure won’t miss running in them 😉
We were feeling lazy last week so we celebrated our date night at home. I made a pot roast (for the first time ever) and tried to make our table look a little fancier than usual. I also made some chocolate covered strawberries, graham crackers and marshmallows (more for me than my husband;) to start out the evening while we waited for the meat to cook. I’d say it was pretty successful!
I was still feeling pretty domestic on Friday and really wishing it would start to feel like fall, so I decided to make some pumpkin cookies. They turned out so well! I love powdered sugar glaze on anything but it just puts these cookies over the top. The only problem is that it’s impossible to have just one cookie at a time 😉
Despite my best efforts to make it feel like fall, it was still RIDICULOUSLY hot for my long run on Saturday! I usually get a little heat rash on my feet after long runs in the summer, but this time was definitely more intense than usual. I still have a little heat rash left on my feet today, but it is finally getting better! My feet were swollen and still blotchy the day after my run and even a little sore to bend. I definitely won’t be sad to say goodbye to this summer weather!
I’ve been looking into some local, seasonally themed 5ks and am very tempted to sign up for this one! It’s the weekend after the NYC Marathon but it would be a great first run back afterwards. We’ll see if I feed into that temptation and register for it:)
I am so excited for October and all that it has to offer! The last three months of the year are my absolute favorite and I am so excited that they are almost here. It seems like the trees have been so pretty lately but I know they are only going to get even prettier over this next month!
