Today marks the completion of the final full week in November! This brings us to the end week 4 of the November Fitness Challenge. This week no doubt was a busy one, with Thanksgiving festivities and a long weekend. It’s hard to believe the month is coming to a close, although it seems this way with every month. This month has gone by especially fast, from the NYC Marathon, to Thanksgiving and the start of the holiday season.
As another week has passed, let’s check in one last time and evaluate the progress we’ve made towards our fitness goal this month. There are only 4 days left to wrap up our goal! This might be intimidating if you are a little behind, or exciting if you’re right on track. I thought this week would be one where I was finally able to get back to my regular workouts after the marathon, but Thanksgiving made that a bit challenging.
The goal for the November Fitness Challenge is to complete 1,000 minutes of exercise throughout the course of the month. This exercise can come in any form: walking, running, weight lifting, yoga, biking, etc. The 1,000 minutes can be completed at any time (heck, you could workout for 1,000 minutes in one day if you really wanted to get it all over with). I like to break down my goals into more manageable chunks, so I’m able to check my progress along the way.
November Fitness Challenge, Week 4
Monday, 11/20: 30 minutes (HIIT Workout – Kayla Itsines’ BBG)
Tuesday, 11/21: 45 minutes (3 miles + strengthening exercises)
Wednesday, 11/22: 30 minutes (HIIT Workout – Kayla Itsines’ BBG)
Thursday, 11/23: 30 minutes (HIIT Workout – Kayla Itsines’ BBG)
Friday, 11/24: 60 minutes (5 miles + strengthening exercises)
Saturday, 11/25: 0 minutes (traveling to visit family)
Sunday, 11/26: 0 minutes (I love my Sunday rest days!)
Week Goal: 250 minutes = 4 hours & 10 minutes
Completed: 195 minutes = 3 hours & 15 minutes
Heading into the week, I knew I was about an hour ahead of where I needed to be to get 1,000 minutes. This was really nice, since I knew we would be especially busy traveling during the long weekend. The extra time accumulated from the marathon has been so helpful, and put to good use.
Being home for Thanksgiving was great, and I was able to get in my first mid-distance run since the marathon. Running is slowly starting to come back to me, and I am finding myself missing it more and more each day.
My arms have felt like jello for about 9 days now, thanks to the Kayla Itsines workouts I’ve been doing. (I don’t know it was possible for soreness to last this long)! We spent Saturday morning looking for a Christmas tree, and hiked a ways to find the perfect one.
As we approach the end of the month, (I still can’t believe it!) we have just four days to reach our goal. Overall, this is my progress on the November Fitness Challenge so far:
- Month Goal: 1,000 minutes = 16 hours & 40 minutes
- End of Week 4 Goal: 890 minutes = 14 hours & 50 minutes
- Actual: 900 minutes = 15 hours
- Left to Complete: 100 minutes = 1 hour & 40 minutes
I’ve got just over an hour to complete in these next few days to hit my goal of 1,000 minutes this month. It has been so eye opening to look at my workouts in terms of length this month. This challenge has really put each of my workouts into perspective this month and forced me to focus on getting active each day.
