No matter how carefully we plan our training schedule, sometimes it feels like there just aren’t enough hours in the day. Finding time to fit in a workout feels nearly impossible. Whether we slept in past our alarm, stayed late at the office, or ended up having to pick up the kids, time can quickly get away from us. Lucky for us, there are a few ways to fit in a run or workout when you’re in a time crunch.
Finding yourself in an unexpected time crunch is usually quite a bit stressful. Deciding whether to skip a workout to allow yourself a few minutes to breathe, or squeeze in a workout that may cause you to be late is like being stuck between a rock and hard place. Neither of the options sound appealing.

When you find yourself with less time than expected, know that there still may be a way to salvage the situation. Finding a workout that is quick, effective and easy to complete anywhere will help you make the most of those busy days where time is sparse.
Trying to be superhuman and do it all usually leaves us feeling more stressed than before we began. Which pretty much negates the entire purpose of exercise – we workout to relieve stress, not create it.
And on the other end, skipping a workout altogether usually leaves us feeling guilty and unable to relax or enjoy those extra minutes we’ve created for ourselves.

So how do we find the right workout for a time crunch?
Finding a workout that is short and won’t leave you running behind or trying to frantically finish up is key. Since time is limited, making the most of these shorter workouts is key. A workout that consists of bodyweight exercises is effective, quickly increases your heart rate, mixes cardio and strength training, and can be done anywhere.
Get creative about where you fit in exercise. If your evening is packed after work, try completing some simple exercises during your lunch break. Creating a habit of waking up early and working out in the morning may help relieve some of the pressure to fit in your workout in the evening when things get busy.
